Book by John Caird and Sam Caird
Music and Lyrics by Paul Gordon
This Dickensian musical follows Estella Scrooge, a young Wall Street tycoon and direct descendant of the famous Ebenezer, who travels to a small town in Ohio on Christmas Eve to foreclose on the Harthouse Hotel, a haven for the lost, lonely and dispossessed. There she finds herself drawn to the attractive proprietor Philip Nickleby, whom she knew as a child. A mash-up of A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations, and the rest of the Dickensian catalog, Little Miss Scrooge is part love story, part ghost story, and a testament to Charles Dickens’ passionate belief in social reform and the overwhelming power of human kindness and generosity. A developmental production from the Tony and Olivier Award-winning director of Les Misérables and Nicholas Nickleby and the creators of Daddy Long Legs ran at the Rubicon Theater this past December.
