The film is about what happens to a funny person when something tragic happens in their life. Zimmerman explains, “This happened to me when my very close friend Kevin Gill died by suicide nine years ago. As a comedy writer for such classic TV series as “The Golden Girls” and “Gilmore Girls,” I didn’t know how to cope. Or figure out why he would do this. When I couldn’t obtain his suicide note, I turned to real notes (Kurt Cobain, Virginia Woolf, war veterans, LGBTQ members, kids that were bullied, etc) for answers. This film tells the story of my own personal journey from pain and confusion to hope and some clarity. And with that came my desire that the piece will bring awareness, lessen the stigma and inspire discussion about this extremely (and unfortunately) growing epidemic”.
Right Before I Go is a co-production with PhilmCo Media.
